Pokey is fat and happy now, but just a couple of months ago he and his siblings were found living under a trailer in rural Arkansas -- a whole little family surviving off scraps of food being tossed at them every few days by some people who spotted them there. They were just about 10 weeks old and had no human contact when we got them, but within just a few days being in foster, Pokey was a different puppy!! It was remarkable to see what a little bit of love and affection could do for these sweet babies.
Pokey is his foster mom's favorite (but shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell the others!!). He is by far the sweetest one of the bunch, which is simply amazing considering the start this poor baby had. He is so gentle, wiggles his way to you to get rubbed from head to toe. He will literally flop over on his back and "surrender" at the slightest chance of a belly rub . . . . and then will stay that way for as long as he can get them!! He is great with other dogs of all sizes, but he is a bit clumsy for the older toy breed in his foster home. He is quick to greet friends he knows, and has been great with the children he's met who are good with dogs. He is all about a good time: chasing and tumbling with his brother, tug o' war with toys, and those frequent pit stops for belly rubs and kisses!
At almost 4 months old, Pokey weighs about 26 pounds so we think he'll be in the 50 pound range fully grown. We have no idea what hiss true mix is, but when you're this adorable, does it really matter??
