My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jelly Bean is the sweetest little shih tzu.. At first the vet thought that he was approx 5 years old, but has decided he is closer to 10 years old. He is 14 lbs. He is quiet, well behaved and seems to be well house and leash trained, just the perfect gentleman. He gets along well with the other dogs but is not one for running and playing with them. He likes to be in the same room as I am and when I leave to go to another he will quietly follow me and find the nearest doggie bed to curl up in until I go somewhere else and then he does the same thing. Because he is so gentle and quite, it would be better for him in a home with older family members and no small children. He is going to be a great companion for someone. As an older dog, he has developed nuclear sclerosis of the eyes which is considered a normal change to the lenses of the eyes. It usually develops in both eyes simultaneously and is often seen in animals over the age of six. The condition isn’t painful. It comes on gradually, and pets are able to adapt very well to the minor changes in vision that occur.

The total adoption donation of $475 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a coupon for a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/
