Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Chessie
Age: 1 - 2 years old
Disability: 3 legged
Breed/Weight: Retriever/ Shepherd mix 35 pounds
History: Chessie was running loose for weeks if not months with a bad leg, finally she was caught and brought to a rural West Virginia shelter. Thankfully, one of our rescue advocates stepped up for her. Unfortunately her leg could not be saved and had to be amputated. Chessie was able to rest and recuperate at her vet office, (where they too fell in love with her) she was then transported to PWD.
Chessie arrived and is doing fantastic! Besides being beautiful, she is extremely smart, sweet, and extremely playful. She has settled nicely and finally feels safe! Her zest for life and having fun is contagious, we love to watch her play and run with the others. Chessie is good with kids and loves to play with toys. We play with the Chuckit toy everyday with her and she loves it! A tennis ball and a Chuckit, might be a great idea for a potential adopter for her! She keeps up with all her new 4 legged friends with ease, and is actually quite quick on 3 legs!
She is quiet when inside, house trained, and has settled into her new routine with ease. We are so happy to have her with us as she waits for her FOREVER family. Not much more to say about this pup, she will be a great life companion to any active family. A fenced in area with another active dog would be perfect for Chessie.
