Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful Havanese/Scottish Terrier in a high-kill Texas shelter. (we're just guessing on Tulip's breeds based on the Texas vet's guess.. whatever the mix..it's great!) A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Tulip's life and nursed her body and spirit back to joy and well-being.
Tulip was identified by shelter personnel as a very loving and sweet dog with a smile on her face all the time! She loves treats, belly rubs, kindness..and lots of loving. Tulip will make a great best friend to anyone who has the time and desire for a kind and very loyal lap dog.
Tulip has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 7 - 8 year old, 11 lb healthy pup and the perfect size and age to be a great family companion. She is beyond babyish ways yet young enough for long walks and time spent together enjoying fun activities. Tulip would do well with a family who is home a lot..she would be overjoyed to be a full-time, devoted companion. At days end, Tulip would enjoy nothing more than to chill on the couch, be loved up, and never gets overly grumpy about much of anything. She loves other dogs of all sizes.. and we'd be very surprised if she didn't love cats too.
Tulip is a truly smart girl..she has already learned new things about home life since being rescued. Tulip appears to have the silly and very friendly traits of the Scottie Dog while also carrying the lap-loving and more dignified qualities of the Havanese. What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their lives.
It is Tulip's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivated us to rescue her and seek to provide her with a great new life in Colorado. Tulip has recently become blind due to bilateral cataracts. While she's doing great and seems to have completely acclimated to a sightless life...we hope that she will ultimately have the benefit of cataract surgery. This procedure is readily available and we're hopeful that Tulip will be fortunate enough to receive this surgery. If she does not, it won't change the love and companionship that Tulip will give to a very loving family.
Tulip appears to be a non-shedding girl. She will therefore require periodic baths/groooming coupled with great nutrition to keep her coat cottony-soft and shiny. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special and cuddly dog her forever family.
We're currently accepting applications for this beautiful and very loving companion. If interested in a new best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
