My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a tough cookie this little guy is! He was rescued by a kind family in Yorkville after he had been roaming the subdivision for days and eluding capture. Thankfully they caught him when they did, the next day was one of those horrific cold snaps. Charles was in rough shape, skinny, dirty and shut down. He did not want attention or love, he was anxious and pacing, ready to run again. It is going on 2 months now that he has been with us and he is making great strides. He has put on weight, was professionally groomed(he is so handsome!!)and he has a spring in his step!! The first time we saw him prancing and wagging his tail was a happy moment, there was life in there still, Charles was feeling well enough to let his guard down and show some of that personality. He is still a work in progress. We are getting him accustomed to being petted and accepting love, once a dog is so shut down it takes time to reach time and patience to help them feel worthy again. We are looking for a very dog savvy home with tons of love and time to help Charles. He is a terrific little guy, great in the house, quiet and well behaved. But, he does not see real well and has mistaken our hands for treats, not aggressively at all, just hungry! An adult household would be best, Charles would be perfect for a retiree that would like a calm companion. His adoption fee is $99. He is about 10 years old and a mix of poodle, schnauzer and ??
