Scruffy's Story...
1-6-17- Scruffy is doing AMAZING in her foster home. She is a great girl who gets along with other dogs, has a sweet and happy personality, and just wants to make her people happy. She is an indoor dog and used to that and very well behaved indoors.

Update - 11/9/16 Scruffy aka Zen's mom is not feeling well and is no longer able to take care of her. She is a beautiful Golden mix. We are helping to find her a FURever.
She was at our PETCO adoption show on 11/19/16 and she is a joy. Loves everyone! She does not get along too well with cats - she likes to chase them. We hear she loves her bathtime!! Let us know if you can give Scruffy a lifetime.

Zen and Cory are brother and sister and are about a year old. She is very friendly and is a happy dog. She loves to play with other dogs and loves children. When Zen is happy, she wags her whole body, not just her tail! She is a bit timid and shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she will crawl right in your lap and give you kisses on the chin! Her hair is very soft and silky, which is perfect to cuddle with! Please email adopt@thisisthedog.com for an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scruffy, a Homestead Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel for sale in Homestead, or seeking a Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Homestead.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Homestead already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Homestead breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Homestead paves the way for another one to be saved.
