Before I introduce myself, let’s get one thing straight! Whoever adopts me must make a solemn promise to change my name. Good dog, what were they thinking? Who saddles a dog with the name ... Gougoune! I like to think that the name reflects more on the people who named me than myself. I am a one-year-old Border Collie-x who arrived at Animatch fearful of everyone and everything; I could even be described as somewhat feral. I originally was given to the SPA in La Beauce. It didn’t take long before Animatch realized that I could definitely use some one on one and they found me the perfect foster home. My family includes four humans and two dogs; the two canines are especially helpful to me. I enjoy my daily walks and I thrive on routine – every day there is improvement and I trust a little more. Baby steps! I am still very scared of strangers and cautious with most people, but I am building bonds with my foster family. As an added bonus, my Foster Mom is performing Reiki on me which is a natural and simple energy healing therapy. It’s our time together and it helps in lowering my stress. My Foster Mom knows that I need a very patient and understanding person who will work with me daily to build a strong bond and decrease my high level of fear. I am a work in progress. Since I do not yet respond to the word “come” a completely fenced and secure yard is a must. I would do well in a home where I am not alone all day as I will only retreat and again become fearful. If you have the time and experience to help me become a healthy, well-adjusted dog, please consider adopting me and giving me a new name.
