Facts about Shirley

  • Breed: Shih Tzu/Poodle (Miniature) Mix
  • Color: White - With Tan, Yellow Or Fawn
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Shirley is a 9 year old, 13 pound, female maltese/shihtzu/poodle mix. She is docile, mellow, funny and smart. Our vet called and told us her owners were going to euthanize her because of her diabetes. Now she is in our care and happy those days are behind her. She is looking for her true forever home.

She is a special needs dog as she is diabetic and blind, but shhh don't tell her that. She will disagree. Her special needs fortunately are low cost and low maintenance. Despite being blind, she easily finds her way in new places (like our adoption events) and gets along with all animals/people. Insulin is given right after her two meals (quick & convenient). Shirley is an A+ patient, doesn't even feel it. Insulin costs approx $35/month. She eats grain free food approx $35/month. Shirley makes a great family and pack member!

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization. Adoption process includes an adoption contract and home check. Adoption fee for dogs are $300 - 500 and for cats are $175. All of our animals are fixed, vaccinated, and chipped.

If you are interested in adopting or have further questions, please fill out the application at LAAR.ORG under the Adoption Process page.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please fill out an application on our website, LAAR.ORG. Go to the page titled "Adoption Process" for the application.

Our adoption process includes an application, home check, adoption contract and adoption fee.

We do not "sell" animals. We re-home animals and we ask for a donation to be made to our organization to help cover some of the costs we incur when we take on an animal. Quite often the animals are not in the best of health so they are immediately taken to the vet and given whatever medical attention is necessary. *The adoption fee for dogs is $300-500 and for cats/kittens is $175.
