Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Toots!! Toots is an adorable 4 year old Shih Tzu mix, weighing roughly 15 lbs. He is a very well behaved boy who likes to play, yet also believes in taking it easy and relaxing (and receiving lots of chest and neck scratches). Moderate energy, he loves going for walks and likes car rides also. Toots might seem a little shy at first meeting, but it's only because he's a polite little man, wanting to sniff a bit before meeting but makes friends easily. Once he knows you, he'll greet you with excitement. He is not a lap dog; per se, but would rather lay right next to you and rest his head on your lap (or leg). He loves sleeping in a human bed at night and gets along with other dogs, as long as they aren't in his face, over excitable dogs. He is fully housebroken and loves to play with toys. His most favorite toy in the world is a squeaky piggy but that's now rivaled by a grunting pig. His foster mom says that Toots brings so much joy and so many smiles to those he meets and makes her laugh with his silly antics. Such a loving and loyal boy, he's ready for that special family to spoil him with love and lots of good things.
Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-11/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $50.00 of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.
