Say hi to Rocky! This beautiful Black Tri border collie is about a year old. He is a smart busy boy who gets along with dogs and is respectful of dog savvy cats. Rocky needs a family who will not be crating him for long periods of time, who are willing to provide him structured exercise, obedience training, and be willing to redirect him when he starts to obsess over his reflection in mirrors or reflective surfaces. Rocky needs a family who will keep his mind engaged, be willing to exercise him with long walks, frisbee, chuck-it, or agility training and show him leadership so he can relax in their care. Rocky likes to play with a canine buddy but really likes being active with his person too. Rocky is looking for an experienced border collie person who understands their quirks as well as their sensitive nature and their need to think! Rocky can live with kids 10+ but he's a border collie so expect some herding behavior. We will be very careful when placing Rocky to be sure his family is willing and able to meet his needs.

You will find an application to adopt at www.hoabcr.org.
Rocky's adoption fee is $300 plus MN tax.
In order to respect the time of our volunteer foster homes, we do not set up meetings until applications have been submitted and approved. Thank you.

About Heart of a Border Collie Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of volunteers committed to rescuing Border Collies and Border Collie mixes. We are concerned about Border Collies having a safe place to go where they will be properly evaluated, housed and cared for while awaiting their forever homes.

We are also committed to partnering with other Border Collie and herding breed rescues so we can all work collaboratively to provide a safe place for dogs in need.

There are no paid positions and all volunteers do this work for the love of the breed. All dogs live in foster homes, in the house with their families. We do not pay ANY volunteers, including board members, for boarding and care. ALL donations go DIRECTLY to the care of the dogs. We are always looking to welcome like-minded fosters and other volunteers to partner with us and bring new ideas and initiatives.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Check our Facebook page for upcoming meet & greet dates and locations.

Individual meetings with our foster dogs will be set up only after applications are processed and approved. This is done to respect the time of our foster homes who are already providing a 24 hour volunteer service.

Our Adoption Process...

All adopters will need to fill out an application to adopt and provide 2 personal references and a veterinarian reference. After references are contacted, if the board feels the dog is a good fit, a meet and greet will be scheduled. If that goes well, a home visit will be scheduled and the adoption can proceed.

Adopters must sign an adoption contract and will pay a fee $350 + MN tax for puppies under 6 months old or $300 + MN tax for dogs 6 months +.

Most dogs will require a physically fenced yard. Other requirements will be listed in the dog's individual bios. No dogs will be adopted as outside dogs. Dogs must live in the home with their families and be incorporated into daily life. Border Collies require an extraordinary amount of physical and mental exercise. Please be specific about how you plan to keep your border collie active and engaged.
