Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Doni is a wee little, pretty black and tan, one year old, female Dachshund who was recently surrendered to the shelter. Doni is about as big as a woman’s size 6 and a half shoe, so to this tiny dog, humans and their children are like giants! That’s why Doni doesn’t like it when hands and fingers come at her out of nowhere--because you never know when you might come face to face with a real life body snatcher! Doni’s motto is: “it’s better to be ferocious than to be sorry!” But if you take your time with Doni, talking to her gently and reassuring her with a calm and happy voice, she will turn into a cupcake, leash up like a pro, and even trot bravely next to you as you lead her to the door; once she trusts you, Doni enjoys racing through the yard like a tiny torpedo and she might even leap up against your leg, asking to be picked up and loved. Because Doni is a tiny child herself, and because she did not take kindly to the misguided attention of children in her recent past, we believe she will do best in a child-free home with someone who has small dog or Dachshund experience.
