My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CHAVVAH is a 8 year old spayed chocolate female Lab who weighs 52 pounds. Chavvah (Say "Hava") will turn 9 on 1/27 and it is her wish to have a new family by then. She was named Chavvah as an Anglicized version of the Hebrew for "Eve", but it also means "calamity", which pretty well sums up her condition when she came to Lab Rescue. She was a favorite at the vet's and it took us less than 24 hours to realize why: this former puppy machine is sweet, joyful and an easy keeper. No accidents in her first day, which is super for a dog who has spent her life outside. She has checked out just about every toy and bone in the dog apartment, which she shares with 2 elderly distinguished gentlemen. She play bows to them and tries to engage them, but so far, she has only been allowed to run alongside one of them while he chases HIS ball. Chavva did steal the ball once but after she got the furrowed brow and 2 grunts, she didn't touch it again. From Transport: What a joyful girl! She rode well for the hour trip home (a little extended since we had to stop for nuggets). She met her roommates, and did fine with introductions. The next time they visited together, she was laying next to one of them chewing a bone she had found. Going to be working on getting some meat and potatoes in her now- and hit the store for fixins for Satin Balls. Chavvah story: She came to us after her "breeder/owner" was "done breeding her" after her last litter about 9 months ago. Despite being neglected and underweight, she has a sweet spirit and a tail that wags her whole body! See her wiggle butt on the video. She is approved for kids 7+. More info soon!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fence: No Requirements

Update: Chavva was returned because she would not use the adopter's stairs and the adopter did not think she had the time to work with her. We did get a few more insights into her behaviors while at her new home. Chavva just celebrated her 9th birthday on 1/27/2016. She hops up and down like Peppy LaPew when she sees or hears children. In just a week, she learned to ring the bells at the door to go outside. She is tolerant of baths, but just can't find a way to love them. She isn't a barker even when other dogs are barking at her on walks. She is very interested in squirrels, and it isn't to find out where they store their food. Chavvah has reached her goal weight of 65#!!!
