My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Reno could be that dream come true companion for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question that Reno would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Reno's family not because he doesn't like young (and gentle) kids...he really does. But because Reno is only 9 lbs and about 8 or so years old, we want to make certain he's handled very gently.

Reno does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he knows well. Reno's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and sweet manner? Reno is initially fearful but give him just a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss.

The awesome NM rescuers recognized all of this in Reno and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Reno was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family.

Reno would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Reno's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Reno to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.

Reno's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored..but with time, great nutrition and grooming, it will once again be the gorgeous coat that speaks of his breed mix. Reno requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Reno will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Reno be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Reno will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. If interested in this loving and devoted best friend please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
