My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winter and Autumn are special girls with an unusual story of being in the right place at the right time ...our amazing volunteer transporters Brenda and Mike were driving down a busy road in a local inner city on their way to the pound to bail out another dog and saw these 2 scared girls darting across the road. They pulled over and as they were trying to coax them to come to them their owner walked out to get them. Apparently their children kept leaving the door open and they were getting loose regularly and had ended up in the pound before, and the owners didn't really want them anymore anyway since they were keeping one of the puppies from Winter's most recent litter:/. They signed them over to us on the spot and they are now safe and getting spayed, no more breeding for them! Winter (cream colored) is only about 2 years old and had at least 2 litters already that we know of. She's very nervous and distrustful at first and was handled roughly (her owners picked her up by grabbing her by a leg in front of our volunteers so we can only imagine how they were treated at home:(), but sweet once she trusts and gets along with other dogs. She's a bigger chi mix, too thin now but should be around 15lbs. Her daughter Autumn is only about a year old and looks like a Doxie or hound mix, under 20lbs full grown. She is also very shy and fearful and takes time to trust but will be a sweet playful pup once she feels comfortable. They are available for adoption separately and are not bonded and will be looking for calmer adult homes where they will be safe and loved. Email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in either of these girls.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
