My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is a male Maltese about 9 months of age. He is a darling, happy and playful young dog. Hunter has a soft, fluffy, coat of wavy white hair that is non-shedding. He currently weighs 9 pounds which is probably close to his adult weight. He is doing great with his potty training, comes when called, and is learning to “sit” when asked. Hunter loves the company of other smaller, gentle dogs and is cutely playful. Meeting new people is something that Hunter truly enjoys. This little guy is very affectionate with his foster mom and could easily transfer his love and affection to another caring person.
Last fall Hunter was surrendered to a shelter when his family learned he had a heart murmur. The shelter asked our rescue to accept Hunter so he could get a thorough cardiac examination and cardiac ultrasound. The results of the ultrasound and cardiac evaluation showed that Hunter has a small hole between his lower heart chambers. A surgical procedure to correct this type of defect has not been perfected in the U. S. His cardiac specialists could not give us a prediction on his life expectance. At this time, Hunter does not show any signs of a cardiac problem. Hunter would truly love to have his own family. He would do best in a calm home with an adult who could be his loving caretaker for the rest of his life. Hunter is ready to meet a caring person or family who would like to open their heart and home to him.
