My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Kira"is a 6-yo spayed female GSD who is very sweet, affectionate, and well-behaved--both inside and outside.

Kira loves people and is great w/ strangers. She is exceptionally gentle with their foster caretaker’s two young daughters (5 & 2), as you can see from the picture middle left. (Click here for an additional picture of Kira & Kalie w/ the girls.) Kira takes treats from hands gently and is not possessive of food or objects.

Kira is not good with her foster caretaker's dogs and appears to lack socialization around other dogs. Their foster caretakers keep their two dogs separated from Kira because of her reactiveness towards them. It's quite possible that Kira simply needs to spend time around other dogs to overcome her aggressiveness, but she will not have that opportunity in her current foster home.

On the other hand, Kira is good with cats, so we will consider a home with cats for her.
Kira has great house manners and loves being inside with her people. She likes laying on the couch with the two young girls or on the floor near her foster “dad” when he works in his office. She usually sleeps on the couch in the spare bedroom.

Kira is fine when left outside—no excessive barking or digging issues. Kira walks well on leash and obeys basic commands. She is a good passenger in a car.

Kira & her 5-yo daughter Kalie belonged to a man named Stevie who lived in rural Oakhurst, just outside of Yosemite Natl Park. Stevie got Kira when she was just a pup. She gave birth to Kalie a year later, and the two were together up until January 2017, when Kalie was adopted.

Stevie became very ill and passed away on Nov 12, 2016. Kira & Kalie were taken to the animal shelter in San Francisco. The two dogs did not do well in the shelter, and on Dec 17, GSRSV received a request from Sonnet, a friend of Stevie’s best friend Michelle, to rescue Kira & Kalie. Michelle had been networking to promote Kira & Kalie's adoptions from the shelter.

GSRSV rescued Kira & Kalie on 12-23-16, and Michelle & Sonnet brought the two dogs to a foster home in Danville, where Kira is still residing.

Kira's adoption fee is $210
