ADOPTED ON 03-18-17 - - Sweet Adella seems to have lived most of her life tied out in a yard, which is no life at all for a wonderful dog like her! Imagine being tied up all day hoping that maybe someone will come give you attention? She is about 1 years old, and just a beautiful Cur mix who loves everyone she meets. Considering she was captured running on a busy street with a clothesline still around her neck and no one has bothered to look for her since, it is quite a wonder that she is as sweet and friendly as she is.
Her foster mom tells us that Adele is a very sweet lady back girl who does not require a lot. She just needs love and affection. She loves to lay in the sun and just enjoy being around you. She will romp and play some but she mostly just likes to be in your presence looking to connect with her human, loves to be petted and any attention from you. Adele enjoys long peaceful walks at a leisurely rate, she is not an extremely active girl and seems very happy just to relax and enjoy life alongside of her human companions. She is a very sweet and friendly girl.
Adella would thrive with a family that gives her time for a long walk, or a good ball game in the back yard. She would love a warm bed to snuggle in at night next to her people. Adella gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys wrestling and playing with them. She also is very gentle with children, so a family with another dog or children would be ideal.
Adella was lucky to break free from her prison and is healthy, good-natured, and waiting patiently for a forever home. Can you open your heart to this sweet girl and give her the life she deserves?

ABOUT THE BREED
Cur dogs are devoted to family, but may be wary of strangers. They are a medium size dog originating in southeastern Kentucky by the Stephen Family, developed from a strain of Mountain Cur, this breed is nicknamed "Darkie" for its dark, rich coat color.
CHILDREN & PETS
Cur dogs do well around other dogs, they are easy to train and get along with children. It's a happy and playful dog that loves to frolic and have a good time with kids. All dogs need plenty of opportunities for exercise each and every day.
BEHAVIOR AND PERSONALITY
Cur is easy to train, are highly trainable and courageous. As with all dogs, humans should establish dominance in the relationship right away to avoid behavioral issues. This dog is smart and loves positive reinforcement with a kind and gentle demeanor.
PERSONALITY
Due to their high intelligence, we humans live with dogs, we become their pack. The entire pack cooperates under a single leader. Lines are clearly defined and rules are set. Humans MUST be higher up in the order than the dog. The humans must be the ones making the decisions, not the dogs. That way your relationship with your dog can be a complete success.
TEMPERAMENT
Many people have said that the Cur dogs will not get along with cats and other small animals which others have found that if you teach them from a young age they will respect all animals inside the home. At times she can be very precious and at other times very bold and brave. They loves games and seems to do well in a suburban setting with lots of exercise. They love daily walks and love to play fetch. They are shy around strangers, not aggressive but very submissive.

Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!
