Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Blacky. This black and white beauty is a female year old traditionally
marked Border Collie. She was an owner surrender to our rescue program.
Blacky is a really nice dog and likes people and other dogs. She has canine
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and it is our opinion that she needs a quiet
place to learn how to focus. We believe that once she establishes a bond
with her person and learns a little focus she will be awesome. Blacky is a
soft dog who needs someone who is knowledgeable about OCD in BCs and
positive reinforcement training making obedience (or trick training) a game,
absent of traditional harsh corrections. She would do really well with
someone who knows how to use positive reinforcement and games to help her be
more focused and confidence. She will not do well with harsh corrections.
Blacky's former home said she was good in the house and she got along with
kids. She wants to form a close bond with her person. Blacky is a busy dog
and really needs a job to do. She loves to play ball and comes and drops it
right in your lap. It would be fair to say that Blacky requires a home that
is structured with daily consistent exercise and daily mental stimulation.
Blacky would not make a good dog who is left all day long to her own
devices, which will only worsen her OCD tendencies. She will not be happy
in a backyard watching life go by her. Blacky is a wonderful dog and will
be an awesome and loyal canine companion for a person who loves and
understands some of the "quirks" of this breed.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an
adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file
before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be
