You know the saying "this town ain't big enough for the both of us?" Apparently, that's Murphy's signature line.
Please welcome Mr. Murphy (fka OMDs Cowboy) back to rescue! Murphy went to his forever home few months ago with one of our previous adopters. Unfortunately, despite great efforts by his family and multiple consultations with our rescue trainers, Murphy has decided he would prefer to live in an only dog home. No problem here as we will always take our dogs back and we are happy to help Murphy find a home where his big fluffy self can take up all the space he wants and soak up all the attention he can get. He doesn't want to share the love and that is just fine!
Our big ol' 2.5 year old, 75 lb. (yes he is only 75lb! What you see is a whole ton of fluff!) boy is a Great Pyrenees mix. Murphy originally came to OMD as a neglected owner surrender. Horribly matted and extremely underweight with nails so long that they were curling into his pads. With lots of love from his foster family, Murphy got all cleaned up and before we knew it he was well on his way to recovery.
At first, he did fine with the resident dog but as time went on and he became more comfortable and confident, the dynamic changed. Great Pyrs are beautiful, affectionate and intelligent dogs but they can be opinionated and strong willed and Murphy embodies all of those characteristics! Since we want nothing more than to see Murphy succeed, we are looking for a home that understands the Great Pyr temperament and preferably has large breed/herding/working dog experience. Also, no other animals or children under the age of 12 please!
Murphy dances every time you say the word "outside" and is an absolute dream on a leash. This velcro boy also loves to be right by your side, knows his basic commands and is completely housebroken!
