My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a dog who will play as much as you want but who will also curl up beside you on the couch at night? Well, Diego is ready that guy! 19 lbs, 1.5 years old, vertically challenged, and cute as a button, Diego is a small dog with a "big dog" temperament. He looks like a mini yellow lab, and we think he might be a Corgi x Dachshund mix. Diego is fully house trained, rides like a pro in a car, and is learning about crate training. He walks well on a leash, and he is learning to come when called. Diego gets along beautifully with all dogs, pigs, chickens, and horses (he's being fostered on a horse farm). He really wants to be best friend with cats, but the resident cats want nothing to do with him, and he respects that. Diego is very food driven and has excellent athleticism, so we think he might be a great candidate for agility classes. Diego also love children, and he really would love to curl up in bed with his own person every night. (He curls up in a tiny little ball and never moves all night long. You won't even notice he's there!)

Diego was found in a rural Alabama shelter without much hope. He was heartworm positive, and the cost of treatment often prevents the average adopter from choosing an infected dog. But Friends of Rescue worked their magic and gave Diego the medical treatment he needed, and today Diego is heartworm free! He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and he's ready to find his forever home. Click here to fill out an application for sweet Diego: http://forrescue.net/dog-application/. Once received, his foster mom will be in touch asap!
