Buddy the Elf's Story...
Buddy the Elf is eager to love and be loved, but don't let his size fool you, he is still a puppy at one year old and has lots of learning to do. He is learning his basic commands, is crate trained, and doing very well with house training. He loves playing with other dogs and his foster family's little girl. He sometimes forgets how big he is and can get a bit rough, but a little reminder will get him back on track. His favorite things include his toys, snuggling up for a nap, and snoring!

Buddy's adoption fee is $175; he is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Some of our pets are in foster care. If you are interested in a specific pet, please contact the shelter at (618) 939-7389 to arrange a meeting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Buddy the Elf, a Columbia Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Columbia, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Columbia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Columbia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Columbia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Columbia paves the way for another one to be saved.
