My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Special needs youngster needs a home!! Cricket is an 1.5 year old mixed breed with a lot of love to give for the right person. He is incredibly social and appropriately playful with all dogs but an unknown past has left him with a fear of physical touch from humans. He will warm up to and seek physical affection from his primary caretakers eventually but it will always have to be on his terms and he will never want to be held. He wants you to love him, but he needs lots of reassurances from a skilled dog handler that understands fearfulness in dogs. Other dogs seem to act as a natural anti-anxiety for him. He visibly relaxes when he has a buddy or two or five around so it is recommended he be homed with a fur-sibling that is the opposite of him, IE loves people! With hard work from his foster home and his trainer (who adores him), he has learned basic obedience and foundational desensitization to an urban environment. He is neutered, housebroken, cratetrained, fully vaccinated and healthy. He will be an excellent companion to someone who wants a polite, yet athletic, medium sized dog, can provide lots of doggy playtime for him, and doesn't mind working with fear/anxiety. He is not for a first time dog owner, a family with young kids, or for anyone who believes they can change him. This guy needs and deserves acceptance for his quirks from the start - Is this you??
