My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HONEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

Honey is a sweet little 14 lb. senior Griff (we think about 10 years old). She is so easy going, gets along with other dogs, kids, and people. She's great in cars and out in public. She is friendly, sweet, and loving.

Since she's an older dog, she's pretty low energy and is happiest snuggled up next to you getting belly rubs. She will always greet you with a happy tushy wiggle!

She's not a regular barker, but when she wants something, she'll let you know. Usually it's when she wants to be lifted onto the bed or when she wants out of her kennel.

For the most part, she's a sleeper and a snuggler. And this girl can SLEEP. And SNORE. She's fine though going into her kennel at the end of the night for bed time, if the snoring keeps you up.

Honey would do best in a quieter home where she can get lots of attention and love. She's a wonderful dog who has been through so much, and deserves to spend her golden years being spoiled rotten!

Honey was surrendered to NBGR by her owners because they no longer had the time to properly care for her. They had previously rescued her off the side of the road, where she was found as a matted, fecal-covered mess! Who knows what this poor thing went through in her early years? They think she was about 2 years old when they found her on the street.

When Honey was turned over to NBGR, it was discovered that she may have broken her leg in years past. Even though it has since healed, it healed kind of crooked, making Honey look a little bow-legged when she walks. It didn't help that she also had a torn cruciate ligament that had to be repaired.

It's always a concern doing such a serious surgery on an older dog, but Honey surprised everyone with her recovery. She still has a little ways to go, but she is walking great, putting weight on her leg, and even going up stairs! She's really a miracle - our little trouper, nothing keeps her down!

Due to her age, Honey's vision and hearing isn't 100%, but it's no biggie for her. You just have to be a little careful not to startle her when she's in a deep sleep because she won't hear you coming!

She does get two different kinds of eye drops twice a day for her dry eye but she is a champ about taking them.

She's also completely house trained and great at sleeping through the night.

Sweet Honey is completely vetted, micro-chipped and heart worm negative. All she needs now is a loving family to call her own.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
