My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I have a beautiful black coat! I am about 7 months old -

I am crate trained, and I am a very protective dog! I will need an adopter that is experienced with the GS breed - I love my family pack.

I am ideal for someone that will take me hiking, running, and will have another dog to play with. I also like cats and get along with them :)

I also have a Border Collie and Australian Kelpie Cattle breed; so I will be ideal to be in a farm as well!

We are having an adoption event; however, Ossis will not be there unless requested. Come and meet them at our adoption event or call us for an appointment during the week:
Come to meet us at our adoption Event::

Here is some information about the breed mixture:
The German Shepherd is a lot happier to have human attention and will make themselves known if they feel neglected! he is also very loyal and full of energy. he is smart but needs to be challenged mentally and physically to not become bored and act out. he does have a stubborn and independent side that can make training tricky unless you have experience. he is protective of her owner and family and is cautious around strangers.

What does a German Shepherd Mix look like

he is medium to large in size weighing 40 to 95 pounds and measuring 18 to 26 inches tall. he can vary in how he looks depending which parent he leans more towards. His facial features tend to look more like the Shepherd's with a muzzle that is long. His ears are a cute mix of half standing up and then the tops flopping down

How active does the German Shepherd Mix need to be?

he has a lot of energy and needs access to open spaces and live with owners who are happy to be active every day, and have a large yard he can play in. he needs some running as well as walking, play that involves physical and mental challenges. he will chase after things if off the leash so wait until you are in a safe area. It will take a while before she gets tired, take him to the dog park, let him in the yard, play ball, fetch, tug of war and so on. Let him jog with you, walk with you at least twice a day.

Does he train quickly?

he is moderately easy to train – he is intelligent and if you have experienced in handling dogs like his it will go well. he does have a stubborn side though and needs a firm but positive approach to his training. Use praise, rewards, treats. Early socialization and training are important for this breed.

Living with a German Shepherd Mix

Teach the children too not to tease him or touch his food.

General information

he is a good watchdog and will bark to let you know of an intruder. he does not bark much other than that, ranging from rare to occasional. he will need to be fed 3 to 4 cups of high quality dry dog food each day, preferably split into at least two meals. he is okay in most climate though does a little better in colder ones and should avoid really hot ones.
