Caspar's Story...
Caspar is a 30 year old male Goffins cockatoo in perfect feather. He is super cute! He eats his Harrison's pellets and his fresh food like a champ. He is fully flighted and has shown his foster home that he is a good flier. However, he is pretty content to sit on his cage for long periods of time. He plays well with his toys. Cockatoos are energetic birds so be sure to give him a large cage and plenty to do! Caspar loves head scratches and more - so be careful to set boundaries!

Phoenix Landing's primary areas of operation include: Maryland (MD), Washington (DC), Virginia (VA), and North Carolina (NC) with some limited support in bordering areas of Pennsylvania (PA), Delaware (DE), West Virginia (WV), South Carolina (SC) (Greenville area), and Tennessee (TN) (Knoxville area). Our Education Program is a FUN and required part of Phoenix Landing's adoption process.

Please check out for more information about Phoenix Landing Education Events and to download a copy of our Adoption Application in DOC or PDF format. All potential adopters/fosters must send in an Adoption Application, attend Educational Seminars, have a brief in-Home Visit,.

Thank you for considering adoption!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Caspar, a Asheville Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in Asheville, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in Asheville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Asheville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Asheville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Asheville paves the way for another one to be saved.
