Facts about Brandy and Zeus

  • Breed: Cockatoo
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Male
These two male sulphur crested cockatoos were adopted and have been living in an aviary most of the year. They are now ready for their next good Phoenix Landing home. Neither want to be touched, but they are talkative, energetic and beautiful. Zeus is a 16 year old greater sulphur crested cockatoo, and Brandy is a 19 year old medium sulphur crested cockatoo. Brandy came to us in 2004 in a small round cage. The cage had fallen and rolled, and his wing had been caught and subsequently amputated, and then he was relinquished to us. Please don't use round cages! Cockatoos need the largest cages and play areas that we can provide, because they are super smart, busy and easily bored. Bored parrots are a recipe for behavior problems.

Phoenix Landing's primary areas of operation include: Maryland (MD), Washington (DC), Virginia (VA), and North Carolina (NC). All potential adopters/fosters must attend one of our free educational seminars, have a brief in-home visit. For this reason, adoptions and fosters are limited to our locations in MD, DC, VA, NC, SC, TN, and close surrounding areas (including bordering locations in PA, DE, WV). If you live beyond our adoption areas, we encourage you to locate a non-profit adoption organization in your area. Many parrots need our help!
Please check out for more information.
Thank you for considering adoption!

About Phoenix Landing Foundation Asheville NC

About Our Rescue Group...

The Phoenix Landing Foundation (PL) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. PL promotes and protects the welfare of parrots, especially those with an extensive lifespan. We provide for parrots of all types in need, and act as advocates for those without protection. Visit our website at for more information. We also sponsor great educational seminars! All are welcome (please do not bring your birds or other pets). Most of PL's classes are free, although of course we always welcome donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

.Most of our birds are being fostered in private homes in the MD, VA, NC, SC, and DC area. Sometimes, we have foster families bring their birds to these events for prospective adopters to meet them.

Our Adoption Process...

We require:
- An Adoption Application
- A brief in-Home Visit with you and your family (for birds larger than a cockatiel)
- Attendance at an Intro class (recommended for all, required for birds larger than a cockatiel). For large birds (macaws, cockatoos, amazons, greys, eclectus, etc.) we also require an Advanced class.
- An Adoption Fee (for birds larger than a cockatiel) -- adoption fees vary, larger birds have higher fees
