My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aerial is one of several rabbits rescued from a hoarding situation in NJ. The rabbits were kept outside and received little human interaction. Now, in the loving care of one of our foster homes, Miss Aerial has blossomed into a friendly rabbit who enjoys being petted, groomed, savors her time with other rabbits, guinea pigs and cats like. She loves exploring her environment, running through tunnels, and talking naps in her hiddy hoses. She even developed quite the taste for greens, and knows her way around a great salad mix. Her favorites are kale and cilantro, and she will object if her meals are lacking her top ingredients for more then a few days.
Her dearest pastime is flopping in front of her foster parents for a whole body massage, and some light brushing/grooming. Give her a few minutes of this, and watch as she melts into the most lovable fur-blob you’ve ever seen.

During her stay in her foster home, Aerial was introduced to another bunny- sir Darkwing.
We took in sir Darkwing after a plea from the city's shelter where he was not thriving. This poor boy must have been scared out of his mind by all the noises and commotion happening there, so much so that he became withdrawn and unsocial. His first day with us, he hid a lot, and wasn’t comfortable coming out of his enclosure for a run around the bunny play room. The second day his foster coaxed him out, and got his trust by talking to him, hand feeding some delicious greens, and allowing him to do things at his own time. Only two weeks later, this sweetheart started nudging his foster for petting, and begging for more attention if she gets busy with someone else. Among the many rabbits that Empty Cages Collective has rescued, Darkwing has had, by far, the quickest turnaround. Darkwing is now comfortable being held and has even surprised himself by falling deep asleep in our fosters’ arms, and then, realizing what just happened, got amusingly embarrassed and quickly jumped out... only to come back for a second nap moments later! He is a graceful and delicate boy, who has been though a lot, and would do best in a quiet home with an experienced bunny guardian.

When Darkwing (black) and Aerial (white) were introduced, the two hit it off almost immediately! First housed separately, the pair spent hourly together time for weeks on a neutral play-pen territory, as their bond grew stronger and deeper. Now, living together in one large enclosure, with plenty of out of cage time, the newlyweds love nothing more than cuddling together, sharing a good bunch of hay, and critiquing their daily salads.

Approximately 3.5 year old, Aerial is spayed, healthy, and llitterbox trained. Darkwing is around two and a half years old, neutered, and in great health according to our vet.

* Please note: Rabbits can live up to 10 or more years, and so they require a commitment of lifetime care, love, and responsibility.

** Aerial and Darkwing are NOT a god fit for homes with young children.

*** No cages or hutches please. Darkling and Aerial are accustomed to a bunny-proofed, free roaming home.
