Facts about Tack

  • Breed: Anatolian Shepherd Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Tack is an older guy with a story to tell. He has been around the block and knows what it's like to be an outside-only dog. But now he is looking for a home where he can come inside too, and be a cherished member of his family.

Tack is 10 years old, and could stand to shed some pounds and be with someone who can help him keep his coat healthy. He also needs to be with someone who can respect him and give him space when he needs it. He loves people and affection, but it needs to be on his terms. So no young kids for this guy.

He will need to be with someone who is dog savvy, and who wants to adopt a dog who really needs a special home.

If you’re interested in adopting Tack, the next step is to fill out our online adoption survey. With that, we'll learn more about your family's preferences and lifestyle and get a sense for whether Tack would be a good match for you.

About Old Dogs New Digs

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of dedicated volunteers who advocate for senior dogs in need. We help find foster and forever homes for old dogs who end up in Maine shelters or have to be given up for any number of reasons.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Old Dogs New Digs places homeless dogs in foster homes throughout Maine. We introduce prospective adopters through personal meet-and-greet appointments and adoption events.

ODND does not have its own kennel or shelter; instead, we serve as an extension for many shelters throughout Maine to help them find loving homes for senior dogs in their care, which are sometimes harder to place than younger dogs.

Often, we hold adoption events at various local pet stores, where we'll bring several adoptable dogs. To find out when our next adoption event is, please visit ODND's Facebook events page ODND's Facebook page.

Our Adoption Process...

● Interested parties complete and submit ODND's adoption survey.
● An ODND case manager reviews the survey to see if the dog and the adopter are a good fit.
● A meet-and-greet with the dog and adopter is arranged.
● An ODND case manager visits the adopter’s home.
● An ODND volunteer contacts the adopter's veterinary reference to make sure that the adopter has a good record of caring for their companion animals.
● When the case manager approves the adoption, the adopter finalizes the adoption directly with the dog’s shelter. The shelter may require that the adopter signs an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee to help cover some of the expenses incurred in rescuing the dog, such as veterinary care and vaccinations.

It may take a few days to get through this process, so we hope you'll be patient and know that ODND dogs are worth the wait!
