Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Baby was picked up after being abandoned in her home when her owner moved. She is 6-7 years old and has had puppies every heat since she was a 6 month old puppy. Not only was she bred repeatedly but she was never given heartworm prevention. When she came to us she was in heart failure because of a blockage from all the worms in her heart. The shelter manager fell in love with Baby and decided to treat her for heartworms at her personal vet to give her a chance at life. Heartworm treatment was very risky but without it she didn't have a chance at all. So far we are at the 1 month mark and she has another 2 weeks to be considered out of the danger zone. Baby is a fighter and she's doing very well. Now that all the fluid is gone she's a bit thin but we are working to fatten her up. We'd love to find Baby a foster home or even an adopter so that she doesn't have to stay here in the shelter. She's quiet. Good with children and other dogs. She's crate and housetrained but does have to go out regularly while she's on Lasix. Baby walks well on a leash and is overall a wonderful medium size Lab mix. Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.
