My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Casey: 6 Year Old Black Male Lab Mix 60 Pounds

Casey came to the Ukiah shelter as an owner surrender. They mentioned to the shelter he chased a jogger and they did not want to deal with him any longer. After meeting Casey and spending time with him; the story did not seem to fit as he is the easiest going dog we have met in a long time. The Ukiah shelter was doing his health evaluation and found out Casey was heartworm positive. They then talked to the family and found out that is why Casey was given up to the shelter they could not afford the treatment for him. The Ukiah shelter got Casey into a foster home and treated him for his heartworm and he came to GGLRR last week.

This is what we know about Casey:

Our boarding facility says he is a very easy dog! A dog that would fit into pretty much any situation. He loves to play fetch, is very easy to walk on the leash, love’s everyone and everything he meets! (His tail just keeps wagging!) He is fine if crated; he is very calm in his crate. He has no guarding of toy or food; will play fetch and bring his ball back to your feet. He has been in a home with other dogs and have grown up in a home with kids. We are not sure about Casey with cats but he does not chase the smaller dogs. You can pick up his feet, look at his teeth, rub his belly and his tail will just keep wagging. He has been in play groups with a variety of dogs and up to 10 dogs at a time.

We would love a home that Casey will get the exercise and a home that will keep up him training. We feel Casey would be fine in a home with kids and other dogs!

If you are looking for a wonderful boy to be part of your pack please email Rescue Rep Liz at liz@jobshopsf.com or call 415-613-6374.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
