Tigger came to Tree House from Furry Friends Foundation in 2007, when he was about two years old. He's tested positive for the virus that causes FIV* and has no teeth, but don't let that scare you off: he's a feisty and super personable guy.
Tigger loves to be around people, and loves attention. He's the class clown of his room. His favorite trick is to run frantically around the room, then scale a floor-to-ceiling scratching post in a single bound! Then he'll cool off with a long, lazy catnap in the sun. His antics can get too intense for other cats, but he could make a fun pal for a cat who doesn't take himself too seriously. It’s important to watch Tigger's body language when interacting with him (tail swishing, ears pulled back) because he can get a little overstimulated.
*Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives. Tree House staff can help answer your questions to see if an FIV+ cat is the right choice for you. FIV+ cats adopted from Tree House are eligible for a lifetime veterinary-care plan that includes a free annual exam and discounted treatments.
