My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Gabriel's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Gabriel tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this CavalierX is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Gabriel became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

At just 18 - 24 months old and approximately 11 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Gabriel to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Gabriel and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success!

Gabriel gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a Cavalier King Charles mix.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible!

When Gabriel turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag (and a jump up into his favorite person's lap) is more Gabriel's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for a family with older, very gentle kids or retirees who have the time and desire to make a young dog a member of their family. Gabriel would thrive on the attention that retirees often put into their pets. Once bonded, Gabriel will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with enjoying the paths and trails of Colorado. Gabriel would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 11 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs.
.
Gabriel's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Gabriel will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life.

Farfel's has requested that Gabriel be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Gabriel's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Gabriel will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/11/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
