My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I am a 10 yr old Shih Tzu/Havanese cross and my name is Whiskey. No one knows much about my past and I really wish I could talk so I could tell someone! It would be such a big help if people understood more about me and my other life.

I haven't always lived with the family who looks after me now. They read about me on FB and felt really sorry for me. A man said he didn't want me anymore and that he was going to take me to an SPCA shelter! The kind people knew that an older dog like me wouldn't do very well at the SPCA so they decided to give me a home.

My people think I may have been a puppy mill dog who was used for breeding because I am 10 years old and still not neutered. The vet says I need to get that done so the volunteers at Home at Last Dog Rescue will make sure it happens before I go to another home. I am going to get a really good check up too to make sure nothing is bothering me.
I badly want to have my own person and when I get attached to someone I tend to be possessive andprotective. I don't want anyone else to get close to them - I just want them to be mine. I am careful about my toys too and don't like anyone to touch them. I live in a home with a young child now and she might try to touch my toys one day. My new family are worried that I might hurt her because I can be a little snappy sometimes! I wouldn't want to hurt anyone so I don't think I should live with little people.

I am usually affectionate, fun and playful with people I like. But, I have to tell the truth - once in awhile I am a bit grumpy. I need my person to help me learn to act appropriately. I want to do the right thing! I would be happiest in a home with an older, single female person (I like them better than men) who would be patient and understanding. Men scare me so it would be best if i didn't live with one!
