Scarlett's Story...
Despite being named after a Southern belle, Scarlett and O’Hara are male kittens. You can tell them apart by their noses: Scarlett has an orange nose and O’Hara has a white nose. They were found abandoned by their mother in Charlestown, W.Va., and came to 4Paws to find their forever home.

Scarlett and O’Hara were wary of people when they first came to live with their foster family in Alexandria, but after only a few weeks they started coming up for pat and snuggle time and are friendly with people they know. They are very sweet boys. They still get a bit startled by loud noises and sudden movements, but they love to play with toys and will always come running for canned food.

Scarlett and O’Hara were born in October 2016. They have been micro chipped, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and have had all shots appropriate for their age. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scarlett, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
