My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!! My name is Misty Blue, but all my friends call me Misty! I am a 26-year-old, beautiful Blue Front Amazon. I haven’t been handled in a few years so I’m a little scared, but with love and patience from my new family, I’m sure I'll come around. I am already starting to step up onto my foster mom's finger!

I am a little cage defensive and can be very protective of my space. My foster mom is working with me on this. If you come to meet me, she will tell you what kind of body language I exhibit when I think you are getting a little too close so you can back away when I'm getting upset. In this way, I will learn that you will respect my wishes and I won't be so protective of my space after awhile.

I love to be where the action is and I am very curious about the people in my house. I watch them all the time and I can talk to them too! I say all kinds of things, such as hello, honey, go night night, that's a good girl and other things I've probably forgotten to mention. I can also beep like a truck backing up, laugh and I like to pretend I am talking on the phone.

I am on a healthy diet of pellets, nuts (no peanuts please!) veggies, fruit and chop. I'm not the best of eaters, though, it takes me awhile to decided if I really like what is in my food dish. Of course, seeing my foster mom and others in my family eating something encourages me to give it a try too.

Although I am learning how to be social again, I would do best in a quiet environment, preferably with no other pets or very young children. I am also nervous around hands and am not ready to be cuddly. If you are patient with me though, and let me move at my own pace, I am sure I could learn to enjoy being scritched and handled again.

I am a great bird! I even go right to sleep as soon as I'm covered. I know I would make someone and their family a great forever companion and friend. Would you like to hear more about me? How about coming out for a visit and seeing if you and your family are the ones I've been looking for? I would also love a "Welcome to Rescue" gift from my Amazon Wish List. Here is the link:

Hope to meet you soon! Thanks for stopping by and reading my story.
Love, Misty
