My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello I’m Hetfield hear me roar! If you visit the Manchester Animal Shelter I am one of the residents that lives here. I reside in the penthouse in the Roy Building in the back lot. You could say I’m kind of special that way. You see I’m afraid of all the hustle, bustle & noise of everyday living in the quadrants of the kennels. It was stressing me out so much that I became neurotic & didn’t know what to do with myself. No worries life is good now that I have my own special space where I can stretch out & relax. I even have my own couch here. How cool is that!!

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m a burly 2 ½ year old Pitbull bachelor whose biggest dream is finding my happily ever after. Let me clarify I’m not looking to rush into a committed relationship right away. I’m hoping to have a few casual dates, get to know each other & then if things go well be exclusive from there. Once we decide to move in together please know this will be a big change for me & it will take a little bit of time for me to adjust. Give me some time, space & be patient. Before you know it I will be wanting to rest my blockhead on your lap & shadowing you around the house.

I’m hoping to share some common interest. Do you like to hike? What about discovering nature exploring a scenic trail? What are your thoughts about peanut butter Kongs? In case you’re curious, I LOVE them! Are you into a good ball game? Relaxing after a long day with an amazing butt scratch? Are you a food connoisseur? Like most guys the way to my heart is through my stomach. I accept treats in the utmost delicate manner but meal time is a different story. I want to be thorough in my search for true love. I don’t want to just settle for mediocre. Love is not something to be taking lightly. You need to nurture it in order for it to grow. I’m hoping to establish a comfort level with someone & take things slowly from there. I want our love story to be everlasting & spectacular! I’m very loyal & devoted to my family. Crossing my paws you come along soon.

Sometimes I come off as being too chatty. I don’t mean any harm. It’s just me being curious who’s here & wanting to say hi. Once the initial excitement has worn off, I utilize my inside voice. Oh yeah & I get really into playtime. I’m a bit competitive so I have been known talk smack. Let me win every once & awhile & I’ll be a happy pup. Although fun is important to me I know when I need to buckle down & study. I’ve perfected some of my basics like sit, stay, down & touch. I’m hoping to continue to expand my vocabulary as I’m always striving to better myself. In addition I’m housebroken, crate trained & my leash skills will impress you. I will flourish with some simple direction, a little guidance & an established routine. I’m hoping you are big on academics too so we can conquer the sky together.

I’m sweet, have a silly side & some people call me a big ol’ marshmallow (I think they are poking fun at my size. Sheesh!). My definition of the perfect home would be you & me. There is a certain understanding for the feline breed, I will be completely honest with you I don’t get it so in the best interest of all parties involved a home without them is a must. I have been known to make friends with other submissive pups however I would strongly prefer to be your one & only. Frankly I’ve been known to swipe a toy right out from another pup’s mouth so living alone will remove the element that I need to share my belongings. I know the topics of kids comes up in a serious relationship. At this time I’m sorry to say but they are just not for me. I dream of a home with some land, a fenced in yard & plenty of space to roam from room to room.

So tell me what are your thoughts? Would you like to have a date to get to know each other? OMD did you really just say yes!?!? Come down to the shelter & tell our fabulous receptionist that you are here to meet Hetty!

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition, dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.
