My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rudy is a very sweet guy who has been unlucky in life. He's hoping his luck has changed now though and that someone will adopt him soon!

Rudy seems to have been someone's pet previously since he is so sweet and social. He enjoys getting attention from people and engaging in playtime. Unfortunately, he wasn't well cared for and was not neutered and allowed to roam around. Being an un-neutered male, he definitely was prone to fighting with other kitties and had small old battle scars when he arrived at the clinic. During one of those tussles, he contracted FIV. FIV is an immunosuppressing disease that can cause a shortened life span. FIV positive kitties can also be more susceptible to other diseases since their immune system is weakened. Luckily, with proper care and maintenance, FIV+ kitties can live long and healthy lives!

Many FIV+ cats live long healthy lives and even coexist with other kitties. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds so oftentimes neutering a kitty will curb their desire to fight therefore greatly lessening their chance of spreading the disease. Many FIV+ cats happily live in homes with other, non positive cats.

We are happy to answer any questions you have about how FIV may affect Rudy and his lifestyle! This boy has been through a lot and definitely deserves a home where he will be loved and appreciated for the rest of his life.

Like all our cats, Rudy is FELV/FIV tested, has received age appropriate vaccinations, has or will be microchipped, has had fecal testing and been dewormed, and is current on flea and heartworm preventative.
All cats and kittens are sterilized as part of adoption.
