My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you haven’t figured it out yet by looking at Hondo’s picture, he is one cool dude! Hondo is the coolest cat at the shelter. Poor Hondo has been with us twice already, but he is taking it in stride, because he knows he will find a new home again!
Hondo’s life started out in a Fraternity House..I know..that is no place for a cat. There is no telling what he saw there. But thank goodness he did not pick up any bad habits (that we know of)! A Good Mews volunteer figured he could benefit from more wholesome role models, and so when space became available, Hondo moved in to Good Mews. Hondo’s partying days were over! Hondo was adopted, and then a few years later returned because his family divorced and neither family member was able to keep him. Hondo was depressed for awhile because he really loved his family, but we gave him tons of affection and told him a new family will come along soon.
Hondo really is a loving cat. He loves to follow us into the bathroom and hang out and when we wash our hands, he will jump up on the sink and rub his face all over ours. He also loves to crawl up in your lap for hugs. He is a big love-bug that craves attention and with 80 other cats he just isn’t getting enough here at the shelter, so he really needs a new home to call his own. Hondo would make a great only cat or would be OK sharing a home with one or two other cats. He would do best in a home without children. Come meet this blue-eyed beauty soon!
Hondo is 7 years old, so he is eligible for our Golden Companions Adoption Special - anyone 65 or over can adopt one of our older cats for $65. Everyone knows that senior pets are harder to adopt than their kitten or young adult friends. Research has shown the medical benefits of owning a pet, especially as we get older. They lower stress, lower blood pressure and make us happier. Senior felines make a great match for senior humans!
