Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE: Mango has tested negative for FeLV on the IFA test. This is great news, however she will still need to be retested in a month. We will post her status when that happens. Meanwhile she is in a foster home until mid-March at least.
Mango is an extremely friendly female cat who was found wandering the street in Bushwick. She is one of the most loving and friendly cats we've ever met. She's fine with dogs and cats, and would probably be fine with young children too. We'd love to find her a permanent home, but in the short term we need a foster.
Mango has tested positive for Feline Leukemia on an ELISA test. This doesn't mean she necessarily has the disease, however, just that she's been exposed to it. She is getting a more accurate test done that will determine if the virus is in her system or not. In any case, she needs to stay separated from other cats until we have a definite diagnosis.
Even if she turns out to be positive, FeLV+ cats can live for years in perfect health. She's such a loving girl we know the right person will find her soon. Please let us know if you think you're it!
If you'd like to foster her for the next month, we will help with supplies!
