My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Max, an adorable papillon mix who is looking for a new forever home. His previous owners made the difficult decision to surrender Max because their autistic son was unable to interact safely with him. Max is about 8 years old, and weighs about 18 pounds. We think he might be mixed with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. As is typical with the papillon breed, Max tends to bond closely with one specific person, and can become overly-attached and/or overly-protective of "his person", especially if these instinctive behaviors are purposefully or inadvertently rewarded. In a household with more than one human, he'll probably choose "his person" and may become possessive of their space or attention. If these behaviors arise in his new home, they should be actively and immediately discouraged if his humans want him to share his love between them more equally. Max is neutered, fully vetted, house trained, and good with cats. He is basically a homebody, preferring to follow his human around his own house rather than go to dog parks or out on doggie play dates. He just doesn't love interaction with other dogs, especially energetic young ones, and so we think he'll be happiest as an only dog, or maybe with one other calm, quiet senior pooch. He's a sweet, gentle guy but does not like to be around a lot of commotion, so a house without young children would be best.
