My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STITCH is a 4 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 62 pounds. Stitch is smart, took him about 30 seconds to find my stash of treats and toys in the bag I brought them in. He wasn't sure which was better chasing the ball or sitting for a treat. He likes to be with you and get petted and thinks ear rubs are great, he gives a very contented moan while you are rubbing then rewards you with a kiss. He would love an active family that have a yard to play in so he can chase a ball or toy. Good with other dogs, has been out with other Lab Rescue pups at the kennel. Knows sit, come. Pulls some on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. Seems to be house and crate trained. Keeping his run clean at the kennel. Stitch was a stray to the shelter, he came in after he was attacked by two dogs in a local park. His right rear leg and tail had cuts and bite marks, he was taken to a vet who cleaned his wounds and treated him. Animal Control asked if we could help get him a new home. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Needs fence either physical or underground.

Update: Stitch is settling in to his foster home and enjoying being loved on by all the humans. He rides perfectly in the car and walks pretty well on leash, even past barking dogs and loud busses. He is housetrained and already rings the bells on the door when he needs to go out. If you are looking for a sweet and nearly perfect boy, Stitch is your dog! Doing great with his lab foster sister, More to come after he meets the resident little pup.

This dog is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound) Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 50 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. Within a few days of submitting an application you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.
