My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Bella" is an adorable 4-5 yr old GSD mix who is very sweet and affectionate. She loves to be around people and to snuggle. She likes to hang out w/ her foster "dad" in his office. Bella is wonderful with her caretaker’s two children, 4 & 8-yrs old. (See the picture of Bella and the 4-yr old daughter.) Bella is friendly with visitors into her foster home, but still an alert, watchful GSD. She weighs about 57 lbs.

Bella is great with other dogs she meets, though she is somewhat reactive towards other dogs when she’s being walked on leash. Bella routinely visits the female Border Collie belonging to her savior Jen and does great with her. Bella was a little overwhelmed when meeting several dogs at GSRSV's rescue ranch, but overall did quite well. She was initially protective of Jen, but eventually lightened up when she realized that the resident dogs were no threat to Jen or to her. (See the video of Bella walking w/ Jen and the other dogs elsewhere on this page.)

Bella is NOT good with cats, which is the only reason she is up for adoption. Jen and her family have two cats which Bella was predatory towards, so they found another foster home for her.

Bella is great in the house, where she is kept primarily—even when he foster caretakers are gone for several hours. She is good on leash, again except when she sees other dogs—then she pulls and barks a little. Bella loves to go for car rides and is a polite passenger for the most part.

Jen found Bella near Riego Rd and Hwy 99 on her way to work back in October 2016. All efforts to find her owner were unsuccessful. Bella captured Jen and her family’s hearts, so they didn’t want to take her to a shelter. They found some friends without cats who were willing to foster Bella, and she's been with them since October. Jen had Bella spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and microchipped—she's got a clean bill of health.

Jen and her husband have tried to find Bella a permanent home on their own without success, so Jen contacted GSRSV in February for assistance in placing her. GSRSV evaluated Bella on Feb 12 and is placing her as a "Program Dog." This means that GSRSV is placing Bella through its adoption program while her foster caretakers continue to care for her.

Bella is located in Roseville. Her adoption fee is $160.
