BAXTER's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, not good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

BAXTER's Story...
Baxter: dob: 2/18/2010
adoption fee: $250(includes neuter, micro-chip, current on all yrly vax, current on all flea/tick, internal parasite and heart worm prevention, current health certificate).
Baxter was originally rescued in 2011, when his 1st owner broke her shoulder and could no longer care for her 3 dogs. Howlin4Spirit to the rescue!
Placed within a lovely home with 2 adults, who have since passed away from cancer, so was returned to Howlin4Spirit CARes to help BackStreet find his TRUE fur-EVER home/family.
A real snuggle-bum when the day has waned, walks well on-leash, housebroken & crate-trained(but prefers to sleep snuggled up against person). Gets along well with other small dogs.
NO children under 10yo! Not that he doesn't like them, he just has never lived around children before.
MUST have secured fenced-in yard or live in an apt! NO electric fences!
Will re-test with cats, upon request.
BackStreet is pretty independent so is quite laid-back and easy to LOVE! He has always had other dogs around, mostly females, but can hold his own interests well, on his own. GREAT 'CRITTER-GETTER'! He's your typical dachshund...bred to hunt critters, so expect him to be on the job, when he hears/sees a mouse/mole, etc. Happy to be with his people, when it's time to call it a day. Wants/needs to be an inside companion, NOT A YARD DOG!!!!!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BAXTER, a South Burlington Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in South Burlington, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in South Burlington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in South Burlington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a South Burlington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in South Burlington paves the way for another one to be saved.
