My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Midnight and I am a 4 year old neutered male Poodle who came to the wonderful people at NBS Animal Rescue when my owner could no longer properly care for me. My foster mom and dad are taking really great care of me and making sure that I visited the doggy doctor and got some help with my severely matted fur. Let me tell you a little bit more about myself so that we can get to know each other better.

I am a sweet fella who is a bit shy and nervous around new people and in new situations. Because of this I need a quiet and calm home with someone who is home often and will give me lots of TLC. My fur was so severely matted when I came to NBS Animal Rescue that I had to be put under anesthesia in order to be shaved because my matted fur was so painful. Due to the fact that I didn't have positive experiences by groomers in my past I am very very fearful of being brushed or groomed. I need a patient and understanding owner who knows a groomer who is gentle, patient, and will groom me in small segments so that I learn that being groomed can be pain free, gentle, and have a positive experience.

I do well with most other mellow and low energy dogs who don't get into my personal space. I haven't met a cat before but my foster mom says that I would probably be a good room mate for a kitty cat if a proper introduction is done. Because I am nervous with quick movements and loud noises I need a home that has children who are 10+ years of age. I would love a fenced yard as I like to explore, but I would be OK in a home that did not have a fenced yard as long as my family was home often and would take me on many short walks each day so that I can stretch my legs and do my personal business outside. While I'm not 100% potty trained, I do still have accidents in new environments, I do well with a belly band and if someone takes me out often on a regular schedule and gives me a treat when I do my personal business outside I do quite well.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 6 hour periods.
-Children must be 10 yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard preferred (no invisible fences please) or a family who is committed to taking him on many short walks per day detailed on application.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
