If someone would just come up and say they want a great dog- regardless of color, breed or size- we'd volunteer Harley for the job! Harley is a compact 50 pound, 2 year old Pit Bull. He's playful and fun with other dogs, respectful of children and we believe may even be good with cats. He loves to snuggle on the couch when it's nighttime and sleeps quietly in his crate. One thing Harley needs is lots of toys- did we mention he's lots of fun? Balls may be his favorite, but a nice bone to chew on would be nice too. Harley has a past but it's only made him grateful for his new life. He came in as a stray to a very rural shelter. He sat in a cage for 8 long months (4.5 years to a dog!) and kept getting passed up for puppies, fluffy dogs and people who judged him. Finally- a volunteer had enough and brought him to a vet to get him neutered, hoping it'd help him relax in the noisy shelter. The night before his surgery the volunteer was so surprised how well he fit in a home-with her other dog, toddler and the fact he was housebroken - she couldn't take him back. Now he just needs a wonderful family to makeup for his lost time by walking him, playing ball and cuddling with him. He'd love a home with another dog, but it's not a requirement.

About Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a non-profit, all volunteer, non-euthanizing rescue group out of Richmond, Virginia. We foster out of our homes to socialize the dogs and puppies to a family setting. Adults are house broken, crate trained and up-to-date on all of their medical before they go to their new homes. Puppies are started with their shots and wormings, depending on the age of the puppy as to how much medical is done on them before they go to their new families. All animals will be spayed/neutered before adoption. We rescue all breeds of dogs and puppies, from little ones to big breeds!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our Adoption Process...

There is an application process, including filling out the application. We submit it to our screening board and they will call your references, vet's office (if you have other pets), and interview you and your family. Once approved, they call the foster home and give the information to them to set up a time to deliver your new family member and to do a home visit. At that time there is a contract that needs to be read and signed. We also provide you with the pets medical records, the pet will already be spayed/neutered and microchipped, we also give a vet visit certificate. There is a $186.00 adoption fee that is due at time of delivery.
