My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lovely Lap Dog Leo! Leo is a year old male Pit Bull mix who was rescued from from Long Beach, California by Savin' Juice Medical Dog Rescue. When Leo came out the shelter in Long Beach, he was scared and underweight. After the long drive to Oregon, it took all of about 10 minutes for him to warm up to his foster parents. His foster family quickly learned that Leo, is a people pleaser. He gives unlimited kisses, loves belly rubs, and cuddling next to you on the couch. In addition to being a bundle of love, Leo is an excellent house guest. Three days a week, Leo is home alone while both his foster parents are at work. He's never destroyed anything, not even left out children's toys.
Being only a year old, Leo loves to run and play. A home with a fenced back yard would be ideal. Car rides are his absolute FAVORITE! He love to go somewhere in the car so much that he will sit in the back seat happily. Leo's foster parents have had a great time teaching him basic commands; “sit”, “stay”, “leave it” "shake" and “wipe your paws”. They even introduced him to fetch which he loves. Leo is in the process of learning how to be polite on a leash. There is no doubt Leo is motivated to learn as he does a “happy dance” when he sees the leash come out!.
Like many young dogs, he has less than ideal social skills. He's very nervous with new experiences and needs someone to show him that the world isn't scary and he doesn't have to be guarded. When Leo's foster parents noticed he seemed unsure around other dogs. They took Leo to a trainer to get a professional opinion. The trainer confirmed that Leo is nervous around other dogs and needs help learning how to meet other dogs using the right dog body language. One of the first steps has been introducing Leo to new dogs outside of his foster's home and yard in a calm and relaxed environment. It would be great if Loe's new family would consider working with the same trainer.
Leo has great potential but needs someone to continue to work with him to help him be the amazing dog he so wants to be. Leo would benefit from a home with dog savvy kids 10 years or older. If you would like to meet Leo go to www.savinjuice.org.
