My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUDDY #3 is a 3 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 70 pounds. Buddy is a BBB (Big Black Blockhead). He has a lot of energy and loves to burn it off playing out in the yard retrieving which he really, really likes to do. When he is excited he will jump straight up on all fours until you tell him to sit and wait. He enjoys going for walks and likes to go swimming whenever he can. He loves treats, bones and toys that squeak. He needs a family that will give him plenty of exercise and has a fenced yard for him to run and play in as walks will not be enough for him.
Buddy lived with 10 and 13 year boys he has been around smaller children just never lived with any. Good with other dogs. He lived with two other dogs, a pit-bull and a dachshund terrier, he gets along with them very well. No cats, likes to chase them. Knows sit, and come. Will have a training addendum. Pulls on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate and house trained. Owner says “sometime he has to be bribed with a treat to get in his crate. He is used to staying in the crate while I am at work”. Buddy story - Owner has had Buddy since he was a puppy, she recently moved back in with her mother after a divorce. Mother has a Ridgeback that does not like other large male dogs so owner had to find Buddy a new home and asked us to help. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Needs physical fence.

This dog is from a suburban area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound) Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 50 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. Within a few days of submitting an application you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
