Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jersey is a young dog whose life reminds me of a book called Fortunately that I used to read to my children when they were young. Fortunately, at one time Jersey had an owner. Unfortunately, she somehow got away from that owner and was on her own and was hit by a car. Fortunately, someone called animal services and they caught her and took her to the shelter. Unfortunately, her leg was badly broken and had to be amputated. Fortunately, her foster mom saw her picture and went to the shelter and picked her up. Unfortunately, her incision got infected. Fortunately, it finally healed. Unfortunately, Jersey's foster mom works and has to put her in a crate while she is gone, and Jersey doesn't like that at all. Fortunately, the vet has medicine to try to help her cope with her fear of the crate. Unfortunately, Jersey is still adjusting to the medicine and still doesn't enjoy her crate. Fortunately, her foster mom decided to go ahead and list her in hopes that just the right home is out there somewhere. Jersey is only 20 lbs and around a year old. Her leg was amputated in early December and she doesn't even miss it anymore. She can run like the wind at the dog park! Although she is very shy and timid with new humans, she warms up quickly, especially if the human gives her yummy treats! She LOVES other dogs (please watch the video of her playing with a golden retriever in her listing) and hopes to have another playful dog in her new home. She is good on a leash, house-trained, and loves cozy dog beds, stuffed squeaky toys and bones. She would love a home where she didn't need to be crated, perhaps with a doggy door so she could go outside whenever she wants. Could YOU be her final "fortunately"? Jersey is spayed, up-to-date on her immunizations, and is being fostered in Huntsville, Alabama.
