My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Justice, a 3 -1/2 year old Shar Pei. I am a sweet boy who loves going for walks and car rides, and I also love treats. When you come to meet me, I will talk to you. I love to snuggle and did I already mention that I love treats? I will do best in a home without cats and would prefer a female canine companion. I will also need someone experienced with my breed. I have come a long way since being rescued – I needed a lot of TLC. I have been on a good diet to gain weight, and my skin is also healing. I look and feel so much better! The staff at the animal control had a hard time letting me go and the staff at the Animal Rescue Project love me as well. If I could be the sweet boy for you, please fill out an application today.

****My adoption fee is $195.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
