My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ROCKY: 6 Month Old Chocolate Lab Mix Neutered Male 45 Pounds

So here I am, as cute as can be puppy named Rocky, who ended up in a place called a shelter and not knowing why. I wasn't here very long as I heard someone say they called Lab Rescue to see if they could find a new owner for me. Before I knew it, this lady came to see me, took me out of this giant thing that looked like a giant crate, gave me attention as she checked me out all over and then played ball with me too. She sadly left but several days later she returned, put me in her car and took me for a long ride. I heard her say when we arrived that I rode nicely in the car. Not a peep out of me! I arrived at my Foster Mom's house with three big Lab buddies to play with! It gets better from here so please keep reading my story!
From Rocky's Foster Mom:
Rocky was quite the alpha dog when he arrived but within a short period of time he has improved and is doing quite well. I am providing the structure, leadership and guidance that a he apparently did not have before. He is great playing with my three big Labs along with another puppy that I am currently boarding. He came without leash manners so I am using a harness for our walks and he is responding very well. With proper exercise Rocky is tuckered out and loves his naps as you can see in the photos! He sleeps throughout the night in his crate.
From Rocky's Rescue Rep:
Rocky is a handsome Lab puppy with unique markings. His prior owner was in a wheelchair and having an active puppy was a bit too much for him. The shelter felt that they didn't have the right clientele for a successful adoption so they reached out to GGLRR to see if we were interested in taking him into our program. Because the shelters are so overcrowded, had we not taken him he sadly would have been put down. Like most Lab puppies Rocky is an active guy. He has made great strides since arriving with his foster family and now knows the balance between being active and chilling out! When I first met him at the shelter and spent time with him, I knew he deserved a second chance. Lab Rescue is looking for someone who is home most of the day so he can continue on the good path he's on with his foster family. He is going to be a big Lab so we want someone who is strong both physically and as his leader. Like all young Labs he will require a good amount of daily exercise. A tired puppy is a good puppy!! We want someone with experience raising a Lab puppy and in this case a puppy who is almost starting from scratch. Any kids in the home should be 8 or older.
If you are up to raising an adorable puppy, are around most of the day and have the time, energy and commitment to devote to this great guy, please call Rescue Rep Sandy at 650-303-2436. Please leave good days/times to call back.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
